Girl…grabs your friends, your hiking gear, snacks, and pack a lunch for a picturesque hike.
For the month of July, we are heading up north to get out of the heat and enjoy those cooler temps.
We will be meeting at TBC Campus at 5:45AM and leave at 6AM sharp. This is so we can arrive at Horton Creek Trail near Payson, AZ at 8AM.
Depending on how long the hike takes to complete, eat lunch/fellowship, we plan to arrive back home around 3 or 4PM.
This trail runs along the creek passing many waterfalls and going through mostly shaded, beautiful pine forest. Butterflies, flowers, mossy rocks, and toadstools make their home along this creek making it a scene straight out of a storybook.
The trail is mostly a moderate hike; however, in the last mile, there is a significant elevation gain as it reaches picturesque Horton Springs in rim country. This hike is about 4 miles in and back for a total of about 8 miles. This will take an average of 3 hours. Hiking boots are strongly suggested, but supportive sneakers are ok. A good general recommendation for water is about one half-liter of water per hour of moderate activity in moderate temperatures.
At the bottom of the trail, there is a day use site with picnic tables to eat lunch and fellowship.
